My 10% Devotion Project: Days 4 and 5
10% Devotion, Featured — By Ryan on September 10, 2010 1:26 amFirstly how cool are the pictures in this post that I found lying around cyberspace? Clearly I am drawn to them because they speak my message and to my heart, solidifying what I already believe which isn’t necessarily a good thing, but they speak messages our western world desperately needs to hear. So anyways, how is this little experiment of mine going anyhow? Well it’s going pretty darn good.
Day 4:
Hmm, a marvelous sleep as per usual.. A very unexpected side effect is that I am dreaming a lot more lately. Well remembering my dreams more clearly. Every day I wake up and marvel over the awesomeness of what I just experienced. Two thumbs up for dreams, ooh reminds me of a movie I say today that I’ll get into on day 5. So woke up on day 4, worked for a couple of hours on this and that, although I can’t really remember as it seems like a lifetime ago. Which reminds me of another amazing side effect of this whole thing, time goes by a LOT slower. Not in the moment that is, but because there is so much more diversity and flow in my days looking back on yesterday feels like a lifetime ago instead of in your everyday normal life how it feeling like 5 minutes ago. I have a firm belief that our perception of time speeds up as we grow older not due to our age but due to the increasingly repetitive nature of our existence in the 2nd half of our lives. But that’s a conversation for a Video Log or a separate article on it’s own. To borrow a phrase from the tallest woman I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing ‘Stay tuned’. Work went good, and I had the pleasure of receiving a visit from my most favorite person in the entire world as well as his beautiful wife for 2 hours or so. There are few people who’s presence inspires me as much as him and we had a great solid chill out session over tea together. They are the surrogate parents of Badu so he begrudgingly received a ton of love. Following that easily my other favorite person it the world shows up, we go back to his house and bask in the beauty and wonder of his new 5 week old son. Talk about a double dose of inspirational company, if anyone could live for 2 weeks with these men they would emerge a super hero I guarantee it. One is a physical and spiritual master, the other is brilliant beyond belief and feeds my inner geek in ways I’ve only dreamt of. So the night was spent having dinner with him and his amazing wife followed by being surrounded with laptops, learning about security protocols in linux and FreeBSD until he eventually fell asleep with his amazing beautiful baby boy sleeping on his chest. At time I would just stare at this little miracle and loose myself in the fact that one of the most brilliant and amazing man was holding a child he just created with an amazing woman who will grow up without a doubt to shake this world and create greatness the likes of which most people can’t even dream.
Day 5:
10:30am rolled around quick after going to bed at 5am. Got up and ready, updated my m8 of all the excitement in network security that happened after he passed out and went from his place to the bed Tea Shop in all of Kelowna: Teaberrys , who’s online ecommerce website I have recently engineered and is in the process of going live. Just need to insert some more pretty images and that old tired website will be no more and you’ll be able to order all your stuff online and have it shipped to your door if you aren’t fortunate enough to live in close proximity of this gold mine of deliciousness. Hung out with the beautiful and talented Maria for a couple of hours while cover over some of the nuances of their new backend and how to modify their store, all the while sipping on some great green tea’s and meeting this amazing friend of Maria’s. All this turned into a 2 hour visit that had to be cut short when I realized the time and how hungry I was, but not before I snagged a couple bags of amazing tea. Vivid Meadows Roiboos and a beautiful green. . Got home around 1:30 or so, ate a massive heaping serving of Lentils and toast and proceeded to fall asleep in my bed for an hour and a half of blissful sleep. Just in time to wake up and bust my ass down to the volleyball courts for some Vball which unfortunately ended up starting 90 minutes behind schedule, which meant I was only able to till sand for 15-20 minutes before I had to meet the J-man and his wife down the road for Inception. Of course as I was going there I realized that I said no movies, although movies with loved ones brought up questions and doubts of this rule, which in the end were sustained as I reminded myself that I need to be more strict with my activities. The movie was fairly exceptional however and I’m glad I saw it with them. He made a good point that it could have been so much better if they had taken the concept and execution and done it in a much more artistic and creative way that didn’t involve any guns or explosions. Clearly they were cashing in on the Matrix crowd with a very similar themed movie in some ways but the avenues of artistic creativity you could explore with that concept are mind boggling and it almost seems criminal with what was produced instead. They took a genius concept, that was executed brilliantly and appealed to the lowest common denominator in the end to fill the seats with a brain dead americanized audience that cannot sit through a movie where something doesn’t blow up. Don’t get me wrong, it was a good movie, well done overall, and clearly there will be people outside of that group that will see its merits but you know they will not be the majority. Got back to their place, realized I had 13 minutes to get home which is 3KM away, that was a fun realization which resulted in my sprinting my ass home and sure enough I made it in almost exactly 13 minutes, just in time to start work. So now here I am, some video editing later, a bunch of writing down ready to put out 4 hours of hard work and then call it a day. Everything feels great, a bit of temptation today when I had some down time, oh many especially after that run.. I was in such a mood to just do nothing, veg out while working a bit here and there, but that isn’t an option so I’ve got Jan Waterman cranked, massaging my ears with amazing beats, I’ve written a short novel here, we’ll get some recording done for Industrybroadcast taken care of shortly, maybe some more blogging and blog related work and of course Mr. B is definitely going to get some loving, that soft white belly of his can only go so many hours without being rubbed
And the vlog is up:
