The power of decision Chapter 5

Inspiring, Think about it — By on November 3, 2009 3:15 am

Sat down with Chapter 5 of Barker’s book ‘ The Power of Decision today’  This time I took the questions given to us in the study group and went through them one by one giving first our thoughts and then Barkers explanation in the book

Soundtrack for Today was:

  • Battlestar Galactica OST: Season 3
  • Loreena Mckinnit: 1987 To drive the Cold Winter Away

What does it require to live a full life?

Our thoughts: To live in your true nature, by hacking away everything that isn’t true.   Make the choice and just say ‘I want to seek the truth’ and be strong enough to face that truth.

Barkers thoughts: Change your consciousness

How is it that the abundant life is lived?

Our Thoughts: Hard to be abundant when it just is.  Abundance is relative, it isn’t objective at all.  What are you using as a starting point for how you define abundant?  The chapter is on financial wealth so it’s safe to say he’s talking about material abundance specifically here.  Abundance materialistically for me is far different than Bill Gates, just as it is a villager in Ethiopia.  That villager can release all he has and still starve to death the next year, as 10′s of millions do.  Now if we want to talk about true abundance, outside the material realm well then that’s a whole other topic.

Barkers thoughts: Abundance is expression, releasing it all out and having it all come back in

Man’s mind is stretched to a new idea, and never goes back to its original form, what does this mean?

Barkers thoughts: Every concept you learn becomes a part of who you are.  No unlearning it.

You are the taker from the infinite mind and the giver to the finite, explain how this applies in your life today:

Our thoughts: Nothing is finite

How are we to know ourselves as we truly are?

Our thoughts: There is no self, it’s all created by our ego

Barker’s thoughts: Know yourself as you truly are by ceasing to know yourself as you aren’t.

Give an example of a religious belief that you have abbandonned in the last year because of your awakening?

All of them

Are we living our lives in a spiritual mystery?

Our thoughts: Yes, because we don’t know anything, there’s nothing to know.  The moment we ‘know’ what spirituality is we put 3 dimensional meanings to it, which in themselves require an explanation.  In the tangible sense it’s a mystery, there’s nothing to ‘know’ in this world, in a very difference sense we know everything at all times.

Barker’s thoughts: I am not living in a spiritual mystery.

All creation starts with what?

Our thoughts: A thought, a belief, a decision, surrender.

Barker’s thoughts: All creation starts with a desire

A full life has no stress nor strain in it.  These have been left behind to become nothing.  They always were nothing but by not knowing spiritual ideas, we made their nothingness into something we thought was real.  We knowingly or unknowingly placed ourselves under their rule.  Now, having accepted the full life that is ours as spiritual beings, we have declared our emancipation from these unnecessary burden-creation beliefs.  Their yoke is no longer upon us.  We are free to move forward and achieve our hearts desires.

What are Desires?

Our Thoughts: How can you desire something you already have.  Make the distinction between ‘desires’ and ‘desire’ the first being a noun the latter being a verb.  The other way of seeing it is that we have nothing, and can never have anything to desire

Barker’s thoughts: Desires are potentials to be earthed into fruition

What thwarts most real desires?

Our thoughts: See previous answer there are no real desires

Barker’s thoughts: Indecision

What realization removes all fear from the concept of god?

Our thoughts: Realizing that God is just a word, it’s an idea concocted in the minds of men.  It means nothing besides what we think it means and it means nothing.

Barker’s thoughts: Realizing the impersonality of god removes your fear

What is the most difficult concept for people to accept?

Our thoughts: Everything you believe is wrong

Barker’s thoughts: you can have what you want in life

What is money?

Our thoughts: Is an imaginary system used to simplify the bartering process

Barker’s thoughts: Money is an idea in the mind of god, the idea of circulation and ease.

Right now, just what is it that you are really expecting in life?

Our thoughts: Good exercise, wonderful sex, moments of truth and nothingness.

Why is what we are expecting important?

Our thoughts: An ounce of expectation is an ounce less of appreciation.  We can’t control anything in our future, to expect anything is simply our ego’s trying to wrestle control in the one area they cannot have any.

Barker’s thoughts: Our expectations is just an indication of what we will get out of life

Worksheet:

Before kindergarten what did you want to be?

Wanted to be a fireman and a dinosaur.

Wanted to an asshole, make fun of people and still send them love at the same time.

I used to dream of traveling to:

Just wanted to go into space.  India, Japan, New York, London, New Zealand.

Beliefs about wealth:

  • Accumulation of money?  Relative to what?

Beliefs on relationships:

  • Spread your seed
  • Reaching climax together
  • Tell me what else a life of pure truth goes to a romantic relationship for.

Beliefs on Cancer

  • Mostly preventable

Who am I in the area of health?

  • So damn healthy, our bodies are a temple.  Pushing myself harder without stopping.
  • Deciding to be as good as we could possible be, making it an absolute priority and realization it’s not somewhere we can arrive at but a never ending journey

Who am I in the area of relationships?

  • Saw that other people could be sweet and it soften my heart
  • Learned that the negative emotions can be trained and untrained, nothing is true.
  • Learning about the infiniteness of love.  Learning that there is infinite love, my love sexually or non for one person doesn’t diminish my love or ability to love another or vice versa
  • Monogamy exists for egoic purposes alone.  Past conditioning and that’s it.  Hedenism can also exist for egoic reasons however finding true passion with one person shouldn’t limit you to finding it with another.
