Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize

I wasn’t sure if this was serious when @RasmusBoserup tweeted about it a few minutes ago but it looks to be true. Obama is the first active president to receive such an honor in 90 years and some critics say the act itself is a joke as he hasn’t made any real change yet. But with his complete 180 reversal on international affairs from the previous administration, opening arms to the muslim world, and waging an uphill battle for a health care plan that the rest of the world takes for granted as being common sense but lobbyist groups are fighting tooth and nail, you have to give the guy some credit. Oh that and doing it all while being a visible minority in a country where not being white makes everything exponentially harder.
There might be some that deserve it more, won’t deny that, but I’m not too upset they didn’t get it this year if it helps this man right the wrongs of his predecessors and make this world a little more peaceful and loving place

The Norwegian Nobel Committee praised Obama for “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.”
The first African-American to hold his country’s highest office, Obama has called for disarmament and worked to restart the stalled Middle East peace process since taking office in January.
“Very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future,” the committee said in a citation.
